BUPA London 10.000 my journey to a better lifestyle

Amongst my 2015 resolutions I made room for a 10K race. My first one ever. As a previous athlete in my teenage years and with an active sports lifestyle, I have decided to challenge myself for a better body and mind discipline.

I was about to bring to an end a gap from a healthy lifestyle, that I wasn't very pleased with.
It also came natural to run and fund raise for my favourite's charity mission.

I have to admit that my biggest challenge was to discipline myself to a daily running routine. I've chosen to go my own way without reading other Bupa 10k testimonials until two weeks before the race, in order to avoid disappointing towards my late preparation action plan. I have started running only about 5 weeks before the race. That's when my journey started. A journey to a better ME.

Gradually I have regained my long effort and resistance force by running on a daily basis (4-5 k/day) on the top of following a strict weights training routine for weight loss and a Herbalife nutrition plan.
I strongly recommend the Herbalife 24 hours nutritional support line for athletes; the Rebuild Endurance recovery protein sports drink really made the difference for me.

In a nutshell, I am closer than ever to my 6 packs abs, I have accomplished to finish my first 10K race in an hour and 20 minutes with no stops, maintaining an average pace of 07:40 min/km without losing my focus and energy in the crowd.

One of the main risks when running with 10.000 other people is to allow the adrenaline of the moment to affect your concentration and your regular average speed that you've already built during your individual running sessions.

The amazing support from my other half and friends made me realise that when you are loved and encouraged to push your limits, when you have faith and you fight for a good cause-everything is possible.
The BUPA London 10K was extremely well organised, the volunteers and supporters were amazing, the bands and drums at every Km kept me going, the showers from the 6th Km were a real blessing and the crowds energy overwhelming in the best way possible.
My stepping stone was the 7th Km and I've run the last 3 km from the race thinking at my Mum and Dad, who I knew were watching over me from a Heaven Rainbow. They gave me the strength to finish my race, which was in their memory.
My husband ran with me the last 3 Km on the pavement side and my friend joined him for the last 500 meters, which I have to admit I found the most difficult. Their support was a real energy boost.
At the end of the day it's all up to us to push boundaries and accomplish amazing things to inspire others.
The 25th of May 2015 was one of my best days ever, being part of something so amazing made me feel proud and extremely happy that there, on the running course, we were all the same regardless the age, ethnicity or charity we raised money for.
Stay fit and healthy ! You can only get younger by doing it!
